How to Report Someone on Facebook

How to Report Someone on Facebook thumbnail
Facebook reviews every report of abuse.

Facebook is meant as a place to enjoy your communication with friends and family. Unfortunately, sometimes a bad apple tries to ruin others' experiences on the social networking site. Facebook makes it easy to report abuse or harassment and will warn or restrict users as necessary. Report a person for general harassment by sending a report about his profile or alert Facebook to a specific post that you found offensive.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to Facebook and go to the profile of the person you want to report. Find a particular user by entering his name in the search field at the top of any Facebook screen. Clicking on a user's name next to one of his comments or posts on the site will also direct you to his profile.

    • 2

Scroll down to the bottom of the left-hand sidebar in the user's profile. Click the blue "Report/Block This Person" link.

    • 3

Let Facebook know why you're reporting the person by clicking the circle immediately to the left of the appropriate reason; Facebook supplies five reasons for reporting. You may also optionally request to block the person by checking the box next to "Block [User's Name]." Blocked users won't be able to see you on Facebook at all.

    • 4

Click the "Continue" button to send the report to Facebook.

    • 5

Report a specific post by a user by hovering the mouse pointer over the post and clicking the "X" that appears in the corner. Select "Report as Abuse" from the menu.
