How Do You Use the PS2 USB Headset? thumbnail
USB headsets allow you talk to other players while gaming.

Connecting a USB headset to your PlayStation 2 allows you to talk directly to other players in online multiplayer games, opening the way for quick, real-time strategizing as well as for quick, real-time trash talk. The Logitech USB PS2 Headset, Labtech USB 711, Labtech USB 712 and the Datel USB PS2 Headset are all PS2-compatible.

Instructions

    • 1

Check your game's manual or look at its specifications online to see whether the game you want to play is compatible with headset audio.

    • 2

Plug the headset into one of the USB ports on the front of the PS2. On a standard PS2, these ports will be in the blue plastic square on the bottom left of the machine when it is lying flat. They are marked by the three-pronged USB symbol.

    • 3

Start your game. Sound will transfer to the headset automatically, but settings for activating the headset mic will vary from game to game. Check your game's manual for details.

Tips & Warnings

  • PS2 headsets are also compatible with the PS3.

  • Parents, be aware that online gamers are not the most demure of hobbyists, and the language in voice-chat-capable games can often get colorful. Make sure you're all right with your children hearing it.
