How to Find a Job As a Masseuse
A masseuse, or massage therapist, manipulates the soft tissues within the body to promote relaxation and the release of tension. This occupation requires professional training in order to gain employment. After you have completed a massage therapy education program and earned a license if it's required in your state, you will want to begin marketing yourself to find a job. A masseuse can work in a wide variety of environments, such as a health spa, fitness facility, cruise ship or doctor's office.
Instructions
-
-
1
Create a list of all the local fitness facilities, chiropractor offices and health spas within your immediate area. Compile this list into a spreadsheet that includes contact information.
-
2
Call each of the businesses within your list and inquire about open masseuse positions. Inform the business of your educational background and any previous positions you've had as a professional masseuse. If you are fresh out of massage therapy school, explain your training and areas of expertise.
-
-
3
Request an interview. However, if the business informs you they are not currently hiring, ask permission to drop off a resume. Mark this information beside the business name on your spreadsheet.
-
4
Exhaust your list of potential employers and re-organize your spreadsheet based on interview dates. Prepare for an interview by printing off several copies of your resume; however, if you do not have any previous masseuse experience create a sheet of the specific type of massages you have been professionally trained to perform.
-
5
Attend the interviews you have gained from your cold calling. Make sure to bring your resume and be prepared to perform sample massages and answer questions regarding massage therapy during the interview.
-
6
Mark off who you have interviewed with on your spreadsheet and make any notes that were given during the interview (such as callback date, second interview, etc.). Continue to make phone calls to potential employers until you have secured a position as a masseuse.

Tips & Warnings
Offer to give a free massage in order to showcase your skills as a masseuse. This may be helpful if you are just starting your career as a professional massage therapist.
Do not call an establishment numerous times if they have expressed no interest in hiring a new masseuse. Simply thank them for their time and move on to the next number in your spreadsheet.
