How to Replace the Volkswagen Passat 2004 Windshield Wiper Blades

Keep your wiper blades in good condition to improve your visibility in bad weather.

You should replace the wiper blades on your 2004 Volkswagen Passat at least once a year. Inspect the blades regularly for drying or cracking. Replace the blades right away if you notice damage. The wiper blades are crucial to your visibility in rain or snow. The 2004 Passat uses a 21-inch blade on the driver side and a 19-inch blade on the passenger side. Buy replacement wiper blades at an auto parts retail store.

Instructions

1. Raise the wiper arm off the glass and rest a soft cloth on the windshield glass. The cloth will protect the glass from damage if the wiper arm falls.

2. Locate the release tab on the pivot point of the wiper blade. Press the release tab down and slide the wiper blade down toward the arm. Remove the wiper blade and discard it.

3. Line up the new wiper blade to the retaining clip and lock it into place. Remove the cloth and lower the wiper arm to the glass.

4. Repeat the process on the opposite side. Test the operation of the new wipers.
