Instructions

    • 1

Cut a square out of the cloth that you have chosen for your patch. If you are using the patch to cover a hole in your clothing, then you should cut the square so that it is about an inch larger than the hole.

    • 2

Draw an outline of the shape that you wish the patch to be with a quilter's or sewing pen. This type of pen has ink that will disappear when it is washed. You can also print out a shape from online to use as a template to make cutting easier. Cut out this shape.

    • 3

Trace the shape onto a piece of adhesive paper. Follow the instructions that came with your adhesive material to add it to the back of the patch that you have cut out; this will usually involve ironing the patch to the adhesive. Allow your patch to cool before attaching it to your clothing.

Tips & Warnings

  • To keep your patched clothing in good shape, wait 24 hours after you have applied the patch before washing. Wash the garment on the gentle cycle and allow to air-dry.
