Keeping bread warm before serving can be a challenge for any baker. While you do not want to serve cold bread, you also do not want to serve bread that has become dry and hard because you tried unsuccessfully to keep it warm. Use an effective tool to keep bread warm, moist and soft in breadbaskets while you wait to serve it. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Terracotta tiles (one for each basket)
  • Baking sheet
  • Bread
  • Cutting board
  • Serrated knife
  • Breadbasket
  • Cloth napkins
  • Trivet

Instructions

    • 1

      Place the terracotta tiles onto the baking sheet. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

      Place the baking sheet with the terracotta tiles into the oven and warm them in the oven for five to ten minutes. Remove the baking sheet from the oven when the time elapses.

      Prepare the bread while the terracotta tiles warm. Slice the bread, if you wish, using the cutting board and the serrated knife.

      Line the breadbasket with a cloth napkin.

      Place one warm terracotta tile in each breadbasket and place the bread on top of the tile.

      Cover the bread with another cloth napkin and tuck the napkin into the basket securely so no warm air escapes.

      Place the breadbasket onto a trivet on your counter or table to serve.
