How to Use a Ribbon Punch

How to Use a Ribbon Punch thumbnail
A ribbon punch is used to thread ribbon for a craft border.

A ribbon punch is a small crafting tool designed to attach ribbons, paper strips or charms to cards or scrapbooking pages. Paper-Crafts.org notes that punches are sturdy tools that work well on a variety of crafting surfaces. Ribbon punches make two to six small holes in the primary surface of a craft to enable even and gentle threading of ribbon. Ribbon holes are usually 1/8 to 1/4 inch apart so that the borders of the craft will be perfectly aligned and close together.

Instructions

    • 1

Slide a piece of paper into the opening of the punch.

    • 2

Push the punch down until you hear it click into place. Release the punch. Repeat along the edges of the craft until the border is complete.

    • 3

Thread the ribbon or paper through the holes along the edge of the craft. For small threads or decorative embroidery, use a needle to thread through the holes.
