How to Make Your Own Band Flyers

How to Make Your Own Band Flyers thumbnail
Promoting your band with flyers will help people pack those seats come show time.

When an up and coming band gets the opportunity to play at a concert, one of the main things they'll have to consider is promotion. Without word of mouth and advertisements, you may find that very little people will show up to hear your band play. One great way to intrigue people to come to your show is to create an intriguing band flyer and distribute it throughout the town where the show will take place and beyond.

Instructions

    • 1

Find all of the pertinent information about your band's concert, including the date, time and venue where it will take place. Contact the appropriate people, including the person putting on the event and the venue manager to make sure you have the right information.

    • 2

Come up with a theme that fits the attitude of your show. As most local bands play concerts with other acts, you should come up with an idea that makes sense for all of the bands that will play that night. If all of the bands playing have songs about demons, for instance, you can come up with a theme that centers on evil, hell or Satan. Be creative.

    • 3

Compose a draft of your flyer using a simple pen and paper. Using the theme you decided on, you can draw pictures and write in the information that needs to be on the flyer just the way you want it. Show it to your band mates as well as the members of the other musical acts to find out if they like your design.

    • 4

Open a program like Adobe Photoshop or Microsoft Paint to make your band flyer more professional-looking. Create a headline that attracts attention to your flyer. As FlyerBoy.com suggests, use a unique font for the event's title, but choose a typical font like Times New Roman or Arial for the date, time and place of the event. Leave some white space between graphics and lettering to avoid cluttering the flyer. Give it an artistic touch by adding a photo of the bands.

    • 5

Add the event title near the top of the flyer with the event details near the bottom of the page. Don't overload the page with too much text or graphics; keep it simple, yet eye-catching.

    • 6

Use a color or black and white copier machine to make as many copies as you like if you do not want to use up a lot of ink in your printer. You can find a copier at public libraries as well as stores like Staples.
