How to Make a Welding Resume
No matter what you do for a living or what you want to do, it is essential to have a polished and professional resume. Your resume is your first introduction to the prospective employer, and it is critical that the first impression you make is a good one. If you are looking for a job as a welder it is important that the resume you create emphasize your skills, your work ethic and your years of experience.

1
Write down the names of the companies you have worked for and make sure you have the starting and ending dates for each position. Do not guess at the dates--be sure that all the information you present on your resume is accurate.
-
2
Log on to your computer and open your word processing software package. Open a new document and place your contact information at the top. Centering your name, address and contact information will make the resume easier to read.
-
-
3
Type your objective under the contact information. For instance, a typical objective for a welding resume may read--"To obtain a welder position in a dynamic and growing company" or "To use my welding skills as part of a quality team."
-
4
Type your work experience into the resume, starting with your current position if you are still employed or your most recent position if you are not currently working. Be sure that all of the start and end dates you list are accurate. The employment section of the welder's resume should also include the name of your direct supervisor, along with contact information prospective employers can use to gather further information about your work history and work habits.
-
5
Create a section that lists all of the types of welding equipment you have worked with. This will make it easy for prospective employers to check your set of skills against what they are looking for. Making this section a bulleted list will make the resume easier to read and make it easier for employers to scan the document for the skills they need. Including popular keywords like "arc welding" in the resume will also make it more likely to get through any automated screening process the employer may have in place.
-
6
List your education in the next section of the resume, starting with your most recent educational achievement. If you attended a formal welding school be sure to highlight that training on your resume. Also list any certifications, accreditations or awards you received during the course of your welding career.
-
7
Add a references section and list at least three colleagues who can attest to your skills as a welder and your work ethic. Be sure to ask those colleagues if you can use them as a reference before preparing your resume.
