How to Upgrade the BIOS in an ASUS
The procedure for updating the BIOS for a computer used to be a convoluted process. However, many ASUS motherboards come packaged with an ASUS BIOS updater software that allows for quick BIOS updates. The BIOS is a software that runs on the motherboard that tells the computer how to startup.

Open a Web browser and go to http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us. Select the motherboard being used from the drop down menu.

Select the operating system being used from the pop-up menu.

Expand the BIOS-Utilities menu by clicking on the "+," then download the BIOS update tool.

Double-click the downloaded BIOS update tool file to install it. Follow the prompts to finish installation.

Open the update tool. In the drop down menu, select "Update BIOS from the Internet", then click "Next."

Click Auto-Select to find the appropriate FTP site, then click "Next."

Select the most recent BIOS file from the drop down menu, then click "Next" and follow the prompts to finish the update.

Always update the latest version of the BIOS update software for the motherboard being used before updating.
