      Apply for the test. To acquire certification to practice as a mold inspector in the state of California, you will need to apply for the test given only by the International Indoor Air Quality Commission, which is a nationally recognized establishment. You can access the application via Internet at iiaqc.org. 24 hours a day, seven days a week, or call directly at 772-539-0118 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Eastern time).

      Wait to receive study materials. Once you have registered for the exam, study guides and materials will be emailed to you pdf. for your review and preparation for the test.

      Access the online exam; it's available 24 hours a day. IIAQC examinations are open book, timed, and contain a variety of multiple-choice as well as true/false questions. There are about 100 questions on the exam and you must obtain a score higher than 79 percent to pass. Also, the exams are completely confidential and you can retake the exam as many times as you wish.
