Find the long distance phone number you want to trace. If the number isn't blocked, it should show up on your caller ID.

Go to a website that will trace a phone number to a physical address, such as abika.com.

Type in the phone number and then click enter. The website will trace the phone number and tell you whether it's a land line or a cell number, where it comes from geographically and the address to which the number is registered.

Tips & Warnings
Most free services will only give you the basic information about a phone number that's listed in the public domain. Tracking down privately listed numbers or finding out the name of the person who's calling requires a more in-depth search that will cost a fee.
