Instructions

    • 1

Secure the mower on a flat, level hard surface such as concrete or asphalt. Using a hydraulic jack raise, the tire off the ground on the subject wheel so that the bottom of the tire is 3 inches above the ground.

    • 2

Wipe away any grease and debris from the black center cap (hubcap), especially where it contacts the rim of the wheel. Degreaser is helpful in doing so, if needed. The hubcap is a "snap fit" device, so gently tap the end of a small slotted screwdriver between the hubcap and the wheel rim while trying to pry beneath the center cap. Do this gently around the circumference of the hubcap to loosen it.

    • 3

Pry the hubcap off using a large slotted screwdriver. A few sharp taps with the palm of your hand may be needed, but once the screwdriver "bites" beneath the hubcap, just twist the screwdriver gently back and forth, and the hubcap will pop off.

    • 4

Remove the clip that hold the wheel to the axle with pliers. Slide the wheel from the axle, then perform any needed repairs. To reattach the hubcap when the time comes, align the hubcap over it's retaining washer and tap sharply with the palm of your hand.

Tips & Warnings

  • Apply a bit of grease to the inside rim of the hubcap to make removal easier the next time.

  • Check to be sure the hydraulic jack is stable before performing any work beneath the mower.
