Troubleshoot common issues with your Dell Axim X30

The Dell Axim X30 is a PDA device that uses a touch-screen interface and runs the Windows Mobile 2003 platform. This platform can be fully integrated with Windows XP and Windows Vista. However, if you are having problems with your Dell Axim X30, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can take to solve common issues. These troubleshooting steps will combat common issues and do not involve opening the device or voiding your warranty.

Instructions

    • 1

Manually reset the X30. If you are experiencing slow loading or freezing, a simple reset should fix the problem. Use the X30's stylus to press the reset button on the back of the device. The screen will flicker, and then the device will power back on.

Perform an ActiveSync. The ActiveSync operation will back up all files and will reinstall any files that were lost. If your X30's operating system is acting strange, or files are missing, the ActiveSync can also restore any files that have been corrupted. Connect your X30 to your computer using the bundled sync cable and then launch the ActiveSync software and perform the sync operation. Once this is complete, disconnect and then try your operation again.

Restore the X30. If none of the above steps have restored functionality to your device, you can restore it to factory settings. This will delete all of your current content. However, you will be able to back it up later if you have performed the ActiveSync operation in Step 2. To perform the restore operation, press and hold the power button while holding the reset button for two seconds. Release the buttons and then follow the reset prompts on the screen.
