Mixing up a safe non-toxic natural cleaner for your kitchen is a rather simple process that requires only a few ingredients, probably already stocked in your pantry. With the addition of a few essential oils to the mixture, your natural kitchen cleaner will be fragrant and contain anti-fungal, antibiotic and antiseptic properties without all of the harmful fragrances and chemicals added to commercial cleaners. Things You'll Need

  • Clean empty spray bottle
  • 4 cups of water
  • 2 tbsp. of white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup of all-natural liquid soap
  • Tea tree oil
  • Lemon oil
  • Lavender oil

Instructions

  1. Make the Base Cleaner

    • 1

      Pour 2 tbsp. of white vinegar into the empty spray bottle.

      Pour 4 cups of water into the spray bottle.

      Add the ¼ cup of natural liquid soap to the bottle.

      Mix the ingredients gently and slowly either by shaking the bottle with the lid on by stirring it with a spoon.

    Make it a Germ-Fighting Cleaner

      Add 4 drops of tea tree oil to the bottle mixture to give the cleaner antibiotic and anti-fungal properties.

      Add 4 drops of lemon oil to the mixture to give the cleaner antibiotic, anti-fungal and antiseptic properties.

      Add 8 drops of lavender oil to the mixture in place of the tea tree and lemon oil if you prefer the smell or have skin sensitivities to the other oils.

      Mix the cleaner slowly and gently to incorporate the essential oils.

Tips & Warnings

  • A natural cleaner made of ingredients such as baking soda or lemon juice will work more efficiently for heavy kitchen cleaning like your oven and for stains.

  • Do not use essential oils such as lavender and tea tree oil if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Allergic reactions may develop after inhaling lavender oil. Wear gloves when using the cleaner since adverse skin reactions can occur from essential oils. Avoid contact with your eyes and nostrils.
