How to Draw the Master Sword
The "Master Sword" is a mythological weapon from the "Legend of Zelda" games. It is the ultimate sword for the protagonist Link which can easily fell his enemies, and defeat Ganon to foil his evil schemes. The design of the "Master Sword" has a very intricate look: double edged blade, hexagonal cross section, curved cross guard, and the iconic "Triforce" (a picture of three smaller triangles within a larger one) at the blade's center. Simply starting with its outlines can help you draw your own "Master Sword."
Instructions
-
Basic Outline of the Master Sword
-
1
Draw a short, horizontal line on the page. Ensure that this line is not too close to the upper or lower edges so that you have enough space to draw the rest of the sword.
-
2
Draw a long vertical line running through the middle of the horizontal one. You should now have a cross with four distinct divisions: an upper part, left arm, right arm, and lower half. These divisions will be used as guidelines for drawing.
-
-
3
Draw a circle around the intersecting area of the cross. The circle should look like it is divided into four quadrants: upper left, upper right, lower left, lower right. Just like the cross, these will be used as guidelines for making the sword.
Drawing the Master Sword's Handle
-
4
Draw a straight line going up starting from the upper left quadrant of the circle. Then draw another straight line going up starting from the upper right quadrant of the circle. Ensure that these lines are a little longer than the upper part of the cross.
-
5
Draw a circle at the top of these two lines to create the end piece. You should now have the basic outline of your sword's handle. Now erase the upper part of the cross, then draw a ladder inside the handle to create handle-ridges.
-
6
Draw three horizontal lines within the circle/end piece of the handle. This will complete the drawing of the sword's handle.
Drawing the Master Sword's Guard
-
7
Go back to the circle with four quadrants. Draw a horizontal line going left, starting from the upper left quadrant of the circle. This line should be longer than the left arm of the cross.
-
8
Continue the horizontal line by drawing straight down and past the left arm of the cross. It should look like a sideways "L" at this point. Then draw a horizontal line going halfway to the right. The sideways "L" should now look like a hook.
-
9
Draw three zigzags starting from the end of the hook. Draw the first zigzag as a diagonal line going up, then the second one down, and the third one going up. Ensure that the third diagonal ends on the dividing line between the lower left and lower right quadrant of the circle. Once you've completed the zigzag, you will have made the left half of the sword's guard.
-
10
Draw the right-half of the sword's guard. This side follows the same principles as steps one through three of this section, except that the line directions are flipped/mirrored. Start by making a sideways "L" then a hook, and then three zigzags. Ensure that the third zigzag line ends up right on the dividing line between the circle's lower quadrants. Then you will have both sides of the sword's guard.
-
11
Erase the left and right arms of the cross that are outside of the circle. Then erase the vertical line running inside of the circle. This will finish the drawing of the sword's guard.
Drawing the Master Sword's Blade
-
12
Go to the first outward point of the zigzag from the sword's guard, then draw a straight line going down. Then go to the second outward point of the zigzag and draw another line straight down. These lines will serve as the blade's edge. Ensure that these lines are longer than the lower half of the cross.
-
13
Close blade's edges by drawing two diagonal lines. These lines should meet together to create the pointed tip of the sword's blade. Then erase the lower half of the cross.
-
14
Go to the center of the blade and draw a large, downward facing triangle. Then draw a smaller, upward facing triangle within the bigger one.
-
15
Draw three petals around the left half of the large triangle. Then draw three petals around the right half of the same triangle.
-
16
Draw a diamond where the base of the blade meets the sword's guard. Then draw a cross within the diamond.
-
17
Draw lines running parallel within the perimeter of the sword. Start by drawing lines next to the blade's edges, then along the blade's tip. This will add further detail to the blade.
