The advantages of laptop computers over desktop computers are numerous, including their mobility and their ability to connect to various wireless networks. If you have a laptop computer and want to connect it to a wireless network, you can do so in just a few short, easy steps, thanks to the Windows network management utility.

Instructions

  1. Add Windows 7 Laptop to Wireless Network

      Right-click on the network icon in the system tray, which will look like a series of increasing bars.

      Select the wireless network you wish to connect to by clicking on it and then click the "Connect" button.

      Enter the password for the network (if necessary) and then click the "OK" button. Once you are connected, you will see a small pop-up bubble verifying the connection.

    Add Windows XP Laptop to Wireless Network

      Click the "Start" button, select "Control Panel" and then open the "Network Connections" section.

      Click on your wireless network connection and then click on "View available wireless networks" in the left-hand pane of the Network Connections window.

      Select a network in the list that you wish to connect to and then click the "Connect" button.

      Enter the network password (if necessary) and then click the "OK" button. Once you are connected to the network, a small pop-up bubble will appear from the system tray informing you of that fact.
