How to Create a DNS Record for a Web Link
Domain Name Servers (DNS) are special servers connected to the Internet that store lists of connections between web addresses and the servers they point to. A DNS record is a setting that determines exactly where a web address points on the web. DNS records are important because they allow webmasters to move the files for a website and still keep the same address, as long as they update the DNS record.

1
Determine the name servers you want to point your web address to by contacting your web host. In most cases, you will point to the name servers for your website's hosting company. Every web hosting company has a set of name servers they will provide you so you can properly set up DNS records.
-
2
Log in to your domain name account. This account should be accessible through the website you used to purchase the domain.

-
3
Locate the section of your account that deals with DNS or Name Server settings. It should be called "DNS Settings," "DNS Admin," "Name Server Settings" or something similar.
-
4
Check the current settings to see if they are already correct. If you host your website through the same service you used to purchase the domain name, the DNS settings should already be correct. If you need to change them, then click "Update DNS Settings," "Edit Name Servers" or something similar.
-
5
Enter the name servers provided by your web host and press "Save." You will usually be asked to provide two DNS records. They are usually almost identical and differ by a single number. This is done for backup purposes. If one name server is down, the second is used instead.

Tips & Warnings
DNS records can take up to 72 hours to fully take effect. This is because your new settings need to be sent out across the web and update all of the DNS servers around the world, which can take some time.
