Instructions

    • 1

Set up your ironing board as close as possible to the nearest electrical outlet. Set your iron on the ironing board and plug it into the electrical outlet.

    • 2

Adjust your iron to the medium setting. Even though your Navy uniform pants are 100% cotton, you don't want to risk burning or scorching them.

    • 3

Take your damp uniform pants off the hanger and turn them inside out. Slide the open waistline of the pants onto the thin, pointed end of the ironing board. With your hands, stretch the pants out as flat as you can across the surface of the ironing board. Spray a light film of water on the fabric of your pants.

    • 4

Press the hot surface of the iron down on the fabric of your uniform pants. Start ironing your uniform pants. Iron around the waistband, and then iron the fabric in the pelvic area below the waistband. As you move toward a new area, spray a bit of water on the fabric, then iron. Move in the direction of the pockets, and iron both sides of the pockets. Iron the fly, and then the seams of your uniform pants.

    • 5

Arrange one of the pant legs along the length of the ironing board, smoothing it out. Spray with water, then iron up and down the leg of the pants. Repeat this procedure on the other pant leg.

    • 6

Turn the pants right side out. Arrange them on the ironing board as you did in Step 3. Iron the front, top section of your pants.

    • 7

Lift the pants up off the ironing board, shake them out and fold the pant legs along the sharp military creases. Lay each pant leg on the ironing board so the vertical creases are straight, and iron one pant leg, running the iron back and forth over the crease to make it stiff and professional-looking. Repeat with the other leg.

    • 8

Iron the cuffs of the pants, running the iron over the fold of the cuff to make it stiff. Remove the pants from the ironing board and hang them on a pants hanger. Stand the iron upright on the ironing board, turn it off and unplug it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Iron your Navy uniform pants inside out as much as possible; if the iron causes a stain or mark, it won't be visible on the outside.

  • To avoid burning the fabric of your pants, keep moving the iron and don't rest it face down on the fabric.
