How to Get Rid of Light Green Water in an Intex Metal Pool
Light green water in an Intex metal pool is most likely a sign of pool water algae. Algae spores commonly enter the pool by wind, rain and contaminates from clothing and equipment. When the pool water is out of balance, or the filtration system is not working properly, these algae spores can bloom almost overnight. Getting rid of the light green color caused by algae is no easy task, but can be accomplished. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Check the balance of the pool water by using a 3-way test strip. Dip the strip into the pool water for roughly three minutes. Remove the test strip and read the results of the current condition of your pool water. Adjust the level of each pool chemical according to the test results.

2
Shock the pool water by adding hypochlorite until the water becomes bluish gray in color. Scrub the sides and the bottom of the pool with a pool brush, scrubbing in the direction of the pool drain.

Check the filter system of your Intex pool by simply placing your hand in front of the pool's return jet and checking to see how fast water flows from the jet. Look at the pool filter pressure reading to see if the pressure has increased at all. A pressure increase of 8 to 10 psi above the starting pressure rate, along with minimal water flow through the jets, is a sign the pool filter needs to be backwashed. Check the resource section to find out how to backwash your pool's filter.

4
Add an algaecide to the pool water and scrub the sides and bottom of the pool again, using a pool brush. Use a pool vacuum to remove all debris from the bottom of the pool.
-
5
Retest the pool water balance using a 3-way pool strip and adjust the chemicals as indicated on the test strip.
