Measure for grommet curtains carefully to ensure proper fit.

Grommet curtains are one of the easiest curtains to use to dress a window because part of the hardware is already a part of the curtains. Grommet curtains have metal rings installed directly into the heading of the curtains. You then simply insert "S" hooks into the metal rings and loop the S hooks over a curtain rod above the window. Measure carefully for grommet curtains to ensure you get the look you desire for your window. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Position the stepladder at the window to enable you to reach the uppermost points of the window easily for measuring.

    • 2

Measure the entire length of the curtain rod from finial to finial to determine the width required for the grommet curtains. This is the entire area the grommet curtains will cover after you install them. If the curtain rod has a return space that bends toward the wall that you wish to cover with the grommet curtains, include this distance in the measurement also. Write this measurement down.

    • 3

Multiply the length from step two by at least 1.5 and as much as 2.5. The number you multiply depends upon the fullness you desire for your grommet curtains. If you desire curtains with less fabric and a more flat appearance, multiply by 1.5. If you desire curtains with more fabric and fuller pleats, multiply by 2.5. If you desire an effect between these two options, multiply by 2. This number will be the width you require for your curtains. If you will be using more than one panel, divide this number by the number of panels you will use to find the width required for each panel.

Measure the length required for the grommet curtains. Place an S hook onto the curtain rod to enable you to measure accurately. Position the tape measure at the bottom of the S hook and extend the tape measure down to the point where the curtains will end. Write this measurement down. You require this length for your curtains.
