How to Clean Black Granite Floor Tiles
With its elegance and durability, granite tiles have become a popular flooring choice with homeowners. Granite is a natural stone that is more costly than other flooring materials, such as linoleum or laminate. Things You'll Need
- Dust mop or vacuum cleaner with soft brush attachment
- 2 buckets
- Water
- Sponge mop
- Soft cloths
- Mild dish soap or stone soap

Remove loose dust and dirt from the surface every few days. This can be done by running a dust mop over the floor or sweeping it with a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment.

Fill a bucket with warm water. Dip a sponge mop into the bucket and wring it out well.

Run the damp mop over the granite floor tiles to pick up dirt and debris. Rinse and wring out the mop well during mopping. Work in sections when damp mopping and dry each section with a soft cloth promptly to prevent streaks. Damp-mop the black granite tiles every few days.

Use mild dish soap or stone soap for cleaning granite on a weekly basis. Fill a bucket with warm water. Add a few drops of mild dish soap to the water. Fill a second bucket with plain water for rinsing. If you choose to use stone soap, follow the label's instructions for mixing as this will vary among products.

Dip a clean sponge mop into the bucket of soapy water. Wring out the mop well.

Mop the granite floor tiles in sections, rinsing and wringing out the mop often in the bucket of soapy water. Change the bucket of mop water as it starts to turn dark from cleaning.

Go over each section with the mop and the plain water. This will rinse away any soap residue from the floor.

Dry each section of the granite floor promptly. Use a soft cloth to wipe the tiles to remove streaks and cleaning residue.

Tips & Warnings
Do not use abrasive cleaners or cleaning pads on granite as these may scratch the surface.
Avoid using acidic products such as those containing lemon or orange. Avoid using vinegar to clean granite floor tiles. Do not use harsh chemicals, such as bleach, on your granite floor.
