How to Prevent a Lumpy Bottom on Exercise Pants
Exercise pants are an essential wardrobe item. Whether you are at the fitness club or at the park walking your dog, exercise pants take a lot of abuse. It is common for the pants to develop small balls, or lumps, on the bottom area. This is because the fabric here tends to constantly rub against chairs, exercise mats, carpets and car seats. There are a few simple steps you can take to prevent these balls from appearing on your exercise pants.

1
Wear your exercise pants only when you are exercising. This decreases the likelihood of them developing lumps.
-
2
Wash them with other delicate clothing in a gentle cycle. Use warm or cold temperature settings, and use a laundry detergent that is gentle on clothing. Lingerie detergent works just as well for exercise clothes as it does for your lingerie.
-
3
Hang them up to air-dry whenever you can. Whether it's after a wash, or if they get wet, take them off and hang them up to air dry. Using a steam-dry setting in a dryer is fine, but be sure to hang them up right after the dryer cycle is finished.
-
4
Remove existing lumps with a razor blade or electronic ball remover. Just be careful to avoid making tears in your pants. The electronic ball remover can remove the bigger balls, but a razor is required for smaller ones.
-
5
Buy three to four pairs of exercise pants so you can rotate them. This will prevent one pair from getting all the abuse. Each one will last longer, especially if you take good care of them.
