How to Save a PowerPoint With a Lower Resolution

Microsoft Powerpoint lets you embed photos and graphics in your presentation. High resolution photos or graphics can drastically increase the file size of your presentation. This also makes it difficult to share your presentation with another computer or send it to another user as an email attachment. The best solution is to reduce the images' resolution, which will reduce the PowerPoint file's size.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch Microsoft PowerPoint. Click the "Start" button and select "All Programs." Scroll up to find the shortcut of PowerPoint. Click on it.

    • 2

Click on "File" and select "Open." Locate the high-resolution presentation that you may have previously saved on your hard drive.

    • 3

Navigate to the slide that contains a high-resolution photo/graphic.

    • 4

Right-click on the photo/graphic. Select "Format Picture."

    • 5

Click on the "Picture" tab. Click the button titled "Compress."

    • 6

Select "Selected Pictures" to compress the resolution of the photo that you clicked on Step 4. Select "All Pictures in Document" to compress the resolution of all the photos/graphics in your presentation. This option is helpful if you have multiple photos in your presentation. Click "OK."

    • 7

Click on "File" and select "Save." You should see a significant decrease in file size of your PowerPoint presentation.
