1
Find the most appropriate spot on the roof to mount the solar panels. The spot you pick must receive direct, unobstructed sunlight. Ensure the optimum amount of sunlight by tilting the panels to face the direction of the sun.
-
2
Check your house's blueprints to find the exact location of supporting rafters beneath your roof. Mark the area of the rafters because this is where you have to mount the brackets.

3
Attach mounting brackets to the rafters on the roof. Using a drill, make small holes in the rafters and insert stainless steel lag bolts into the holes. Place mounting brackets on these bolts and tighten the screws using a socket wrench. Now attach rails on these mounts and fasten the panels on the top using roofing nails.

Connect the solar panels to the inverter for converting the direct current to alternating current. Run the wiring from the inverter to your home's AC fuse box. Once connected to the fuse box, the energy generated from the solar panels will start running in the outlets of your home.
