How to Get Online Access on a Dell Axim X50
The Dell Axim X50 is a handheld computer released in 2004 that runs the Windows Mobile 2003 operating system. There are several different models of the X50. The standard X50 comes with either a 416 MHz processor or a 520 MHz processor. The 520 MHz Axim X50 has built-in 802.11b Wi-Fi wireless networking for getting online access. The high-end Axim X50v also features built-in Wi-Fi. Microsoft Pocket Internet Explorer is the default web browser that is included with the system.

Press the wireless button on the side of the Axim X50 to turn on the Wi-Fi. This button is found on the left side near the top, below the lanyard hook and the Lock button and just above the Record button.

Select the radio button next to "Work" if a "New Network Detected" pop up appears when you turn on the Wi-Fi switch. The pop up should also list the name of your network. Choose the other option for "The Internet" if you are using a VPN connection. Most users will only need the "Work" option. Tap on "Connect" to access the network.

Tap the "Start" button on the X50's main screen to manually access a wireless network. Choose "Settings" and then "Connections." Tap on "Network Cards."

Select the network you want to connect to from the network names listed in the "Configure Wireless Networks" screen. Enter the encryption key if required and tap on the "Connect" button.

Open Pocket Internet Explorer to test the wireless connection.

The Dell Axim line of handhelds has been discontinued, but may still be available used.
