A Picasso cocktail is a very strong, bold cocktail that rye whiskey fans should truly appreciate. Rye whiskey cocktails were very popular until the 1960s, when other liquors started gaining more of the market share. However, there are still many rye cocktails that are quite interesting, and lovers of bourbon and scotch whiskey should give the Picasso a try. Named of course, after the famous visual artist Pablo Picasso, this recipe makes one cocktail. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Crushed ice
  • 1 1/2 ounces rye whiskey
  • 1 1/2 ounces currant vodka
  • 1/2 ounce grenadine syrup
  • 1/2 ounce raspberry nectar
  • 1/2 ounce blackberry nectar
  • Chilled cocktail glass
  • Lemon wheel, for garnish

Instructions

      Fill a cocktail shaker half-full with crushed ice.

      Add the rye whiskey, currant vodka, grenadine syrup, raspberry nectar and blackberry nectar to the cocktail shaker.

      Cover the cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds.

      Strain the contents of the cocktail shaker into a chilled cocktail glass.

      Garnish the rim of the finished cocktail with a freshly cut lemon wheel. Serve while ice cold.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you want to give this drink an extra-strong touch, add 1/2 ounce absinthe to the cocktail shaker.
