Ghana Head Wrap Instructions

Use a beautiul scarf to make your headwrap.

A Ghana head wrap can be used in many different instances. Knowing how to tie a scarf into a traditional Ghana wrap can come in handy. Many people use them to disguise hair loss, to enhance an outfit or for traditional purposes. You can use any kind of scarf as long as it is large enough. For traditional purposes, it might be fun to use a traditional African print.

Things You'll Need

• Long rectangular scarf

Instructions

1. Shake your rectangle of fabric so that the entire piece is in front of you.

2. Hold on to two opposing corners of the scarf and fold over so that the fold is on the diagonal line and there are two corners hanging down. You should be holding two corners.

3. Put the scarf against the front of your head, below your hairline and covering a small part of your forehead. Wrap one piece around to the back of your head and hold it. Wrap the other side around your head and tie a small knot with the two ends.

4. Bring one of the long sides from the back of your neck and tuck it underneath the top knot. Do the same with the other long side.

5. Twist the extra fabric and bring it up around the top. While doing this, lift any of the hair that is inside the wrap along with it. You don't want any hair sticking out. Continue wrapping it around your head until you get your desired look.

Tips & Warnings

• Wrap the fabric tighter or looser, depending on how you want the wrap to look. There are many different techniques you can use in order to achieve the look you want. Some people like them to stick up more elegantly, while others like them to be wrapped tighter.
