Changing your voicemail message

Your outgoing voice mail message is what callers will hear when they call you and you can't answer the phone. It's important to have a message that lets callers know they've reached the right number, and encourages them to leave a message so you can get back to them when you're available to talk. Changing your recorded voice mail message on your cell phone is simple to do, and is relatively the same no matter what carrier you're using.

Instructions

1. Call your mobile phone number. When you hear your current voice mail or the default voice mail pick up, press the "#" key to enter the voice mail menu.

2. Enter your PIN, if prompted, then listen to the available options in the voice mail menu. Select the option to "Record a new greeting."

3. Follow the voice prompts for recording a new greeting on your phone.

4. Listen to the message you recorded to make sure it sounds good enough to send out to your incoming callers.

5. Select the "Save" option from within your voice mail menu. This will vary between carriers, but will typically be either "1" or "2." Listen to the voice prompts to find out what the correct option is for your carrier.

6. Call you number again and make sure your new voice mail message is being sent out to callers.
