Your search engine history is saved by the web browser you use.

When your browse the Internet, you are likely use a search engine to find information. By default, all of the searches that you type into the Internet browser are saved. If you don't want your search engine history saved, you'll have to refresh or delete the your search engine history. Internet Explorer and Firefox are the two most prevalent web browsers as of 2010. Both of these browsers combined account for more than 80% of all Internet users. Therefore, you'll likely want to know how to refresh search engine history in one of these two browsers.

Instructions

  1. Internet Explorer

      Launch Internet Explorer by double-clicking the Internet Explorer icon on your computer.

      Click the "Safety" tab in the upper right corner of Internet Explorer. Select "Delete Browsing History" from this tab.

      Uncheck the box next to "Preserve Favorites Website Data." Then check the boxes next to "Temporary Internet Files," "Cookies" and "History."

      Click the "Delete" button and all files associated with your Internet browser are deleted including your search engine history.

    Firefox

      Open Firefox on your computer by double-clicking the Firefox icon on your desktop.

      Click the "Tools" menu and then select "Clear Recent History."

      Select "Everything" from the "Time range to clear" drop-down menu. This allows you to refresh your search engine history and start new.

      Click the down arrow next to "Details" and select the elements you want to delete. At the very least, select "Form and Search History" because this clears your search engine history. However, you can select other items like "Cookies" and "Browsing History" if you want to delete that data too.

      Click "Clear Now" and your search engine history is refreshed.
