How to Refinish a Pool Slide
A fresh coat of paint can rejuvenate the look of a weathered pool slide, but any old paint won't do. Choose a coating specifically formulated to resist the corrosive effects of chlorine, or the finish coat will begin to deteriorate quickly. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Heavy-duty fabric drop cloths
- Metal putty knife
- 120-grit sandpaper
- 4-inch latex paintbrush
- Aqua Luster acrylic pool paint
- Shop vacuum or broom and dust pan

Drain the pool completely. Ensure that the pool slide is completely dry before beginning work.

Cover the areas beneath the pool slide with drop cloths.

Scrape away any loose or peeling paint with the putty knife.

Sand away any remaining bits of chipping paint.

Vacuum or sweep up any paint chips.

Apply a coat of acrylic pool paint. Apply only a light coat. Do not overapply, which may result in unattractive brush strokes in the final coat.

Allow the surface to dry for two hours, and then apply additional coats as necessary.

Tips & Warnings
Don't use plastic drop cloths in place of heavy-duty fabric ones, because they tend to blow out of place in the wind.
