How to Spot Fake Designer Jeans

Designer fashion is desirable throughout the world, but it usually comes with a hefty price tag. In order to obtain the look of designer jeans at a lesser price, many resort to producing and distributing replicas of the originals. There are key tips that can be used to spot the fakes when determining if a pair of jeans is an authentic designer pair or a replica.

1. Inspect the fabric. Fake jeans are typically made with a poor quality fabric so they can be sold cheap and in large quantities. The soft denim of real jeans is replaced with a coarse, grainy denim that will be stiff to the touch. Examine the stitching on the jeans. Real designer jeans will have straight, tight seams and knockoffs will often have loose threads and warped stitching.

2. Look at the interior labels of the jeans that list the brand, size and care instructions. The font sizes and types should not vary and the tag fabric should be of a higher quality, otherwise you are looking at a fake.

3. Pay close attention to the jean hardware. Most designer jeans have the designer name printed on the button or some sort of signature design incorporated with the logo.
