How to Make a Big Bubble Blower

How to Make a Big Bubble Blower thumbnail
Giant bubbles are more fun to make than small bubbles.

Blowing clouds of bubbles with a bottle of bubble solution and a small wand is fun for most small and big kids. But blowing big bubbles is completely exhilarating and guaranteed to provide hours of outdoor fun and lots of laughter. Making a homemade big bubble blower is simple with a few common household items and some bubble solution. Small children may need help forming their big bubbles using the string wand, however, this project is safe for all ages.

Things You'll Need

  • Cotton string
  • 2 straws, 6-inches long
  • Scissors
  • Bubble solution
  • Pie pan

Instructions

    • 1

Cut a cotton string into 24-inch long pieces using scissors, then string each length of cotton string through two 6-inch straws.

    • 2

Tie a knot in the string and pull the tied knot around so it's inside one of the straws.

    • 3

Pour commercial or homemade bubble solution into a pie pan, then dip the string wand into the bubble solution holding the wand by the straws.

    • 4

Pull the wet string wand out of the bubble solution and hold open by the straws to make giant bubbles in the wind, or blow giant bubbles using your mouth.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add some commercial bubble solution to your homemade bubble recipes for better, long-lasting bubbles.

  • In the morning or evening--or after a rain--is the perfect time to blow bubbles that last longer.

  • Do not get dirt or dust on the wand or in the bubble solution because it prevents bubbles from forming.
