How to Remove the Toner Cartridge From an HP LaserJet 3100

The toner cartridge in your HP Laserjet 3100 All-In-One is designed to print approximately 2,500 pages. You may want to remove the toner cartridge to replace it, or to redistribute its toner. The first step to replacing a toner cartridge is to remove the old one. The HP Laserjet 3100's toner cartridge is fairly easy to remove.

      Examine the area above the control panel to find two small tabs (one on each side).

      Depress both tabs with your thumbs at the same time; simultaneously lift the control panel up to remove it.

      Grasp the toner cartridge by its handle. Pull the cartridge toward you to remove it from the carrier.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your toner cartridge is near the end of its life (ink faded), remove it and shake it gently for a few seconds to redistribute the toner. This will often extend its use.

  • If you are replacing the toner cartridge, make sure you shake the replacement cartridge first to distribute the toner. Also, remove the tape from the new cartridge. The replacement cartridge number is C3906A. Insert the cartridge in the same method as the previous one was installed; re-attach the control panel lid to finish.
