How to Set Up Voicemail With Verizon Fios
Instead of always wondering who it was that called you, and what it was they they wanted, you can instead use a Voicemail service from your phone company to have callers record messages to you so that you can access them at your convenience. If you are a Verizon FiOS user, voicemail service comes as a standard option with your service.

Dial 1-888-234-6786 from your home phone.

Enter your default passkey when prompted to by the voicemail service. Since this is probably your first time entering the voicemail system, the passkey is the last four digits of your FiOS number.

Follow the prompts after the passkey, setting up features such as a new passkey of your choice and a greeting.

Tips & Warnings
Be sure to remember your password, as you won't be able to access your voicemail without it.

These instructions DO NOT work. The system does not ask for a password, it asks for the 10 digit phone number and then states that the number is not valid. So much for easy instructions.
