Remove Windows Security Alerts from your task bar.

Your computer's task bar, typically at the bottom of your desktop, shows you what is running on your system at any given time. At times, however, it can become crowded, especially the system tray, which is the small right corner section that contains small icons and your clock. One of the icons that you can hide is the one that indicates Windows Security Alerts, which pops up each time your system detects what could be a security issue. Do not worry--hiding the icon does not stop the program from doing its job.

Instructions

    • 1

Right-click on an empty spot on the system tray, which is the section on the far right side of your task bar, typically at the bottom of your desktop. Scroll up and select "Properties."

    • 2

Select "Customize" in the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" dialog box that appears.

    • 3

Browse through the list of current items in your task bar's system tray. Find "Windows Security Alerts." Left-click on it.

    • 4

Select "Always hide" the icon for Windows Security Alerts.

    • 5

Click the "OK" button at the bottom of the dialog box. Hit the "Apply" button in the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" window. Close all dialog boxes.
