Instructions

    • 1

Combine one part lemon juice with one part water, and apply directly to the skin to temporarily minimize the appearance of large facial pores. This treatment is not a permanent solution, but it will work in a pinch.

    • 2

Apply mattifying lotion over clean skin to fill in large facial pores. Allow the mixture to sit on the skin for about 30 seconds and then apply makeup, if desired. Mattifying lotions contain silicone, which gives the appearance of smooth skin when applied to large pores.

    • 3

Wash the face with an over-the-counter facial wash that contains salicylic acid to minimize the large facial pores. The acid tightens skin and reduces oiliness, which also contributes to the appearance of large pores. Do not use too often, as this can lead to excessive dryness. Using it about twice per week is usually beneficial.

    • 4

Exfoliate the face at least three times per week to remove excess sebum that builds up in the pores and causes the pore shafts to widen. Use a gentle, exfoliating facial scrub to remove the top layer of dead skin and any gunk from within the pores. You can also make your own exfoliating scrub by grinding raw almonds then mixing the powder with water to make a paste.

    • 5

Use an over-the-counter toner formulated for large pores after washing and exfoliating. Alternatively, you can make your own pore minimizing toner by combining 1 tsp. witch hazel and ¼ cup rose water in a clean spray bottle. Mist your face or apply with a cotton ball after washing the skin to minimize large facial pores.

Tips & Warnings

  • Avoid wearing heavy makeup if you're concerned with the size of your pores. If foundation is necessary, use matte or ultra-matte, as these won't pool in the pores as easily.

  • Avoid putting on moisturizer before applying makeup to areas of your face with large, open pores. This causes the makeup to slip and pool inside the pores, which makes them appear larger.
