Cats think the world is their litter box, but who wants neighborhood cats using your garden and yard as a litter box? Cats can do a lot of damage in a garden. They dig up plants and well, use it as a litter box. There are some very easy and humane ways to keep cats out of your garden and yard.

        Plant catnip away from your flower or vegetable garden. Cats will find the fresh catnip far more interesting than any plant or flower growing in your garden.

        Lay chicken wire on top of your weed block and cover it with mulch. When the cats try to dig, they will hate the feeling of the chicken wire on their paws.

        Leave fake snakes out in your garden and around your yard or make your own fake snakes by cutting up sections of an old hose. Cats are afraid of snakes and won't even try to investigate to see if it is a hose or a snake.

        Mix together 3 tablespoons of cayenne pepper, 1/4 of a cup of Tabasco sauce, 3 tablespoons of hot dried mustard and 4 cups of boiling water. Allow the mixture to sit overnight, strain and pour it into a spray bottle. Spray the cat repellent in areas of your garden that cats like to frequent.

        Leave out small jars or shallow plates of white vinegar. Cats do not like the strong smell of white vinegar and will go the other way.
