How to Select My Career Path
Selecting a career path is an important decision. It is crucial that a career is based on individual strengths and weaknesses; and that it addresses the things that will provide comfortable, rewarding fulfillment and satisfaction.

1
What am I good at?
Probably the best fit for a career choice is that which elicits constructive and positive passions from within. In other words, try to find something you can really 'sink-your-teeth-into'. Otherwise, you'll probably end up unfulfilled and dissatisfied. -
2
Seek out Career Counsel!
It does not hurt to seek professional assistance when trying to come to terms with making such important decisions and choices like what you will do for the rest of your life to earn a living! After all, doing what you like is far healthier and better than having to do something you abhor! -

3
What do I want to avoid?
Remember to list all the "bad-jobs" you've come across! That is, if you are vehemently opposed to ever becoming an engineer because you hate mathematics; steer clear of such things. Look for the things that excite and energize you. -
4
Attend job fairs!
Even if you are not seeking immediate employment, it doesn't hurt to learn as much as you can about particular careers. Sometimes, job fairs, and the information they often provide, can shed light on certain aspects of careers that you might not otherwise be familiar with. -
5
Be realistic, but be determined!
Unfortunately, not all of us get to choose our "favorite" career path; at least when starting out. This can be due to circumstances beyond our control; but it is important to keep dreams alive by revisiting goals and objectives every so often; and, if possible, follow up on classes and other proactive measures toward attainment of those goals. - 6

7
Choosing a career path should not be painful!
Your career choice should be a "natural fit"; it should feel "right" to you! It should "tickle your fancy"! It should "turn you on"! And, it should "keep you coming back"! -
8
Make it stick!
Once you're satisfied that you've selected the "right" career path, go for it! Get the training and education! Look for "internships" or other work/education programs! Get your resume out there! Go to interviews! Sell yourself, with the same 'passions' that helped you make the selection in the first place.
