How to Make Candy Bags
Whether you are hosting a gala celebration and need candy bags to give away to guests, or you are just collecting candy in a bag, create pretty candy bags using squares of organza fabric in various sizes. Anyone with basic sewing skills can easily stitch the straight lines necessary to make candy bags in attractive colors. Tie the tops of the bags with colored ribbons and the candy bags are finished and ready to use.
Things You'll Need
- Organza fabric
- Tape measure
- Scissors
- Iron
- Sewing machine
- Matching thread
- Satin ribbon (1/4-inch wide)
Instructions

1
Cut two matching squares of organza fabric. Make the squares one inch larger than the size you desire for your candy bags.
-
2
Set the iron to a low heat setting. Turn under one edge of each organza square a quarter inch and then turn the edges over another quarter inch. Stitch one-eighth of an inch away from the fold line on each organza square. These edges will be the top of the bag.
-
-
3
Place the organza squares together with right sides facing each other. Match up the folded and stitched edges.
-
4
Sew the two side edges and the bottom edge of the candy bags using a half-inch seam allowance. Do not stitch the top edge of the bag.
-
5
Turn the candy bags right side out and pull out each corner so it is pointed. Lightly press the edges of the candy bag.
-
6
Fill the bag with candy so it approximately half full.
-
7
Cut a 12-inch length of ribbon and use it to tie the candy bags closed. Simply wrap the ribbons several times around the top of the bag and tie it into a bow.
