How to Copy Excel Formulas Through Multiple Rowsthumbnail
Copy and paste procedures using the mouse.

The Microsoft Excel spreadsheet program uses formulas to calculate values within worksheet cells. Formulas are entered as equations within cells and may be copied with or without formatting to other cells within the worksheet. If your destination rows have the same format as your source row, you can select the source row with your mouse and simply drag the mouse over the destination rows and click "paste" to copy. You can also use simple menu or mouse commands to manually copy Excel formulas using parameters to multiple rows or columns as needed.

Click "Paste" from the edit menu to copy the formula and any formatting associated with the formula. You may also "right-click" your mouse within the destination cell range and click "Paste."

    Tips & Warnings

    • You can also click "Paste Special" to customize the parameters associated with your copied formula, including using formats, validation rules, values only, or comments. You can choose to perform mathematical operations on any values within the destination rows you are copying to, using the dialog box that appears within the "Paste Special" menu.

    • If your source formula contains any hidden cell properties, they will also be copied to your destination rows. It is best to "unhide" cells you do not want to include prior to copying your formula within protected worksheets. The "Unhide" options are available using the "Format," "Cells" menu option.
