How to Erase a DVD+RW Disc
DVDs are great for storing lots of data, but they are one-time use forms of media storage. DVD-RWs (the RW stands for Re-Writable) on the other hand, can be used any number of times. All you have to do is erase the disc with CD/DVD Burning software. You can use a third-party program or the program included with new operating systems.

Insert the DVD-RW into your optical drive. Click the "Start" button and go into "My Computer."

Find the optical drive and right-click on it. In the toolbar select "Erase this disc."

Clcik "Next" on the window that pops up. Then click "Finish" after it has erased the disc.
Mac

Insert the DVD-RW into the optical drive. In the dock, select "Applications."

Choose "Utilities" and then double-click on "Disc Utility."

Locate the drive in the field to the left and click on it. Select the "Erase" tab in the main window. Click the "Erase" button.

Tips & Warnings
Erasing a DVD-RW is irreversible, so be sure to copy anything you want to save prior to erasing the disc.
