How to Protect a Laptop From Cold Weather
Laptop users in colder sections of the world, or people traveling to a cold place, should take heed: Most Laptops are not designed to work well in cold weather. Improper use of a laptop in a cold environment could result in damage or destruction of the laptop. Therefore, it is imperative to employ proper safety measures when using your laptop in the cold.

Let the laptop warm up to room temperature before using it, especially after it has been exposed to cold weather.

Use a laptop warmer, or a laptop platform, when using the laptop. Place the warmer underneath the laptop.

Store the laptop in an enclosed, padded bag or other area. Make sure the laptop is off before storing the device.

Minimize any contact with the outside or other sources of cold weather. Direct exposure can damage your laptop.

If you frequently work outdoors, you may consider purchasing a rugged or more durable laptop designed for extreme exposure.
If you suspect any part of your laptop is frozen, do not use it until it fully thaws and warms to room temperature (and has no ice on the surface and is warm to the touch).
