How to Reattach a Dell Inspiron 1526 Keyboard Key
The Dell Inspiron 1526 is a notebook in Dell's "value" line of laptops. Designed to be customized to fit a customer's budget, it can be configured and purchased in any number of style and performance combinations. Like other Inspiron notebooks, its keyboard is a single unit that can be removed from the laptop entirely and replaced with a new one, if necessary. If a key has become detached though, it can easily be "popped" right back onto the keyboard.
Instructions

1
Power down and remove any cables and connections from the laptop. Remove the battery.
-
2
Open the laptop so that the screen is parallel to the base of the unit (facing "straight up").
-
-
3
On the underside of the loose key, you will notice four "notches" that correspond to the small, metal rods on the base of they keyboard. Line up the four "notches" with the two metal rods and push firmly downward. You should feel the key "click" into place.
-
4
Should the key not "click," pull it carefully off the keyboard and try again, making sure to align the notches with the metal rods.
-
5
Reconnect any cables and plugs and replace the battery. Open a word processing program to test the newly attached key.
