How to Fix a Bad Attribute Position in a File Record

Hard drives are the part of your computer most susceptible to failure, as they are one of the few things on a computer that contain moving parts. Identifying a bad attribute position on your file record will enable you to take remedial action to repair the drive before anything else goes wrong, saving as much of your data as possible. This can be done by using the drive analysis tools in the operating system.

Instructions

1. Click "Start" and select "Run."

2. Type in "cmd" and press "Enter."

3. Type in "chkdsk x:," replacing "x" with the letter of the drive containing the bad attribute position. Press "Enter."

4. Type in "chkdsk x: /f" and press "Enter" to repair the bad attribute position on the file record.
