How to Repair a Broken Plate Setter on a Big Green Egg

The Big Green Egg is a modern version of the ancient kamado clay cooker and is an efficient way to cook outside. However, the Big Green Egg barbecue can get quickly ruined if a piece of it breaks. The plate setter is ceramic and brittle; it breaks easily if dropped. Luckily, repairing it is easy and can be done at home.

Things You'll Need

• Broken plate setter
• J-B Weld
• Cardboard
• Paint stirrer

Instructions

1. Clean the broken pieces of the plate setter. Wash off any grime on the plate setter, and sweep off any particles on the pieces that you'll be reattaching.

2. Ready the J-B Weld. A cold welding solution, it comes in two squeeze bottles--one black, one white. Squeeze the contents of both bottles out on the piece of cardboard, then mix them together with the stirrer to activate.

3. Apply the J-B Weld. Using the stirrer, apply the J-B Weld to the sides of pieces of plate setter that need to be reattached.

4. Reattach the broken pieces. Put the plate setter back together, and the J-B Weld will adhere them. Leave the plate to dry for 24 hours, and it will be repaired.
