How to Change the Attachment Security Level in 2007 Outlook thumbnail
Making some changes in Outlook 2007 requires you to run the program as an Administrator.

If you frequently receive email messages with attachments, you may have noticed that the attachment security settings in Outlook 2007 prevent you from making a change to the pop-up window asking if you would like to open or save the file when you click on an attachment. Change the attachment security settings in Outlook 2007 by launching the program with Administrator credentials.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Start" button, then click the "Outlook" shortcut on the Start menu and click "Run as Administrator."

    • 2

Click the "Continue" button, or enter the username and password for an account with Administrative privileges if you are logged in using a limited account.

    • 3

Click the attachment that you would like to change the settings for. The "Always ask before opening this type of file" box can now be modified. Place a check in or remove the check from the box, then click "OK."

    • 4

Close Outlook and reopen it to resume using it with the credentials of your normal user account.
