How to Clean Water From a Gas Tank

Oxygenated fuels have the capacity to handle a small amount of water. The best way to minimize water in your fuel tank is to keep the tank near full and use fuel from stations that let their fuel tank sit for several hours after filling.

Things You'll Need

• Vehicle
• Fuel tank
• 500 milliliters of isopropanol

Instructions

1. Open your fuel tank.

2. Add 500 milliliters of isopropanol to your tank. The alcohol will absorb the water without affecting engine function.

3. Regularly treat your fuel with a comparably small amount of Isopropanol to prevent water from accumulating in your tank.

• This technique will not work for large amounts of water.
