How to Attach House Shutters to Brickface
Attaching shutters to brick is accomplished by using commonly available masonry anchors. A hole is drilled to accept the anchor, the anchor is inserted into the hole and then the shutter is screwed into the anchor. There are many types of masonry anchors available. Plastic wall anchors work well for plastic shutters. For heavier loads, consider lead lag shields with lag bolts. The installation procedure is the same for either anchor. Does this Spark an idea?

2
Drill the holes for the masonry anchors. Be careful not to drill too deep; make the hole about 1/4 inch deeper than the anchor length.

Insert the masonry anchors in the holes you've just drilled. Depending upon the type of anchor you've selected, a slight tap with a hammer may be needed to seat them.

Tips & Warnings
Most hammer drills have a depth stop, but you can make your own depth gauge by wrapping a piece of tape around the drill bit at the appropriate depth.
