How to Change the Name on a SIN Number
A SIN (Social Insurance Number) is the number assigned to each Canadian citizen in order to work and receive government assistance. You can obtain a card with your unique number on it, much like a Social Security card used by Americans. If you get married or otherwise legally change your name, you will need to order a new SIN card with your new name on it. You can easily apply for a new SIN card if you have some identifying documents.
